Fortnite Week 2 - HighPoly
This week I really locked in on this project. I started out with defining the body more and actually making it look like Rogue. I spent around 4 to 5 hours in total because I got so focused on defining muscle groups, trying to get the most accurate proportions I could and quite frankly, I really love this stage of sculpting.
Then, I crashed and burned when it came to making the head. This by it's self was a whole milestone, and I can see why, as it's what the audience pays most attention to, it's the "money maker". I made three different head's in total before I landed on one I actually liked enough to further expand on.
(Left is my first head and Right is my final head)
The most challenging part with this stage was definitely making the eyes and mouth. The eyes because shaping them correctly to the character's look, and mouth more so because the mouth-bag, which I hadn't done before. Turns out, sculpting lips to fit together after you've already made the bag isn't the greatest of ideas.
I'm in debt to Follygon for his tutorials on sculpting ears and eyes because they truly made the process a LOT easier then trying to figure it out from the reference alone. (Follygon's Channel)
This milestone really did take me the whole week to make, including class hours, so I'd say around 8 hours in total.
- A quick sidenote, I had to update my pureref sheet to include other fornite character face shapes/features to get a better idea of what Rogue needed since I couldn't find a lot of detailed reference photos of her.
